Donumenta ruft in Sofia Künstlergespräche am Runden Tisch ins Leben

Als Förderin und Begleiterin zahlreicher Künstlerinnen und Künstler aus Mittelost- und Südosteuropa erlebt die donumenta seit vielen Jahren wie unterschiedlich sich die Arbeitsbedingungen und Lebensumstände der Einzelnen entwickeln.  Während den einen steile Karrieren aufs internationale Parkett gelingen, scheinen andere von der Bildfläche zu verschwinden oder alternative Lebens- und Arbeitsbedingungen im Verbund mit der Kunst zu leben.

Auch wenn sich die Spuren dieser Künstlerinnen und Künstler heute im weltweiten Netz nachverfolgen oder wieder aufspüren lassen, will die donumenta in den kommenden Jahren weiter gehen und unmittelbarer fragen: Welche Motive und Hintergründe sind entscheidend für künstlerische Lebenwege in Europa? Wen zieht es warum wohin? Wer verlässt sein Heimatland und wer bleibt? Und welche Werte werden dabei als maßgebend verhandelt?

Hierzu ruft die donumenta Künstlergespräche am Runden Tisch ins Leben. Der erste “Round Table Artist Talk” wird am 25. November 2015 im “The Red House – Centre For Culture And Debate” in Sofia, Bulgarien im Rahmen der donumenta-Ausstellung “14 x 14 – Survey of the Danube Region. – Individual Views stattfinden. Weitere Künstlergespräche am Runden Tisch werden bis zum Jahr 2019 jeweils an jenen Orten und Plätzen stattfinden, wo die donumenta ankert.  Unter dem Titel  “14×14 – Survey of the Danube Region. –  Positions in art.  – Visible Traces” werden die Ergebnisse dieser Gespräche im Rahmen einer internationalen Konferenz sowie einer groß angelegten, internationalen Kunstaktion in Regensburg zusammengeführt und sichtbar gemacht.

In Sofia, donumenta initiates a series of

round table artists’ talks

In promoting and accompanying numerous artists from Middle-eastern and South-eastern Europe, the donumenta has for many years experienced the immense differences in their individual living and working conditions.  Whereas some manage to achieve remarkable success on the international stage, others appear to vanish from the scene or to exist in alternative living and working conditions connected with art.

Even where traces of these artists can be followed or resurrected today in the worldwide web, in the coming years, the donumenta wants to go further and ask: What are the motives and backgrounds which are decisive for artistic careers in Europe.  Who is drawn where, and why?  Which artist leaves his homeland, and which one stays?  And what are the values which are considered relevant for such decisions?

For this purpose, the donumenta is starting a series of ‘round table artists’ talks’. The first of these will take place on 25^th November 2015 in the ‘Red House – Centre for Culture and Debate’ in Sofia, Bulgaria within the framework of the donumenta exhibition ’14 x 14 – Survey of the Danube Region – Individual Views’ Between then and 2019, further round table artists’ talks will be organized in all the various places where the donumenta drops anchor.  Under the banner ’14 x 14 – Survey of the Danube Region – Positions in Art – Visible Traces’ the results of these talks will be brought together and presented within the framework of an international conference and major art event in Regensburg.
